At the waterfront in Marievik, where the city’s pulse meets the calm of the water, stands Signalhuset – a characterful example of Swedish postmodernism. Here, history and future converge in a building rich with stories, color, and form. A monument – not in size, but in expression.

Architecture with identity
Signalhuset is part of Marievik’s architectural family tree – a collection of buildings where each individual has its own voice. Designed by Mischa Borowski in the early 1990s, the building is an expression of postmodernism’s playful language of forms: red columns, light blue square façade elements, and details in stainless steel. Here, architecture plays with geometry, proportions, and symbolism.
During the renovation, these characteristic features are preserved and enhanced. Terrazzo-polished concrete elements are highlighted, and new additions in wood and metal panels give the building a contemporary “growth ring” — a new layer that respects the old.
Sustainability as a strategy
Signalhuset is the first project in Sweden to be certified under SGBC’s ZeroCO₂ 2.0 for renovations. By reusing materials such as plaster, glass, marble floors, and interior doors, environmental care is combined with architectural quality. The goal is to achieve Gold certification under Miljöbyggnad and Energy Class A – an office that is as sustainable as it is beautiful.

An office concept that communicates
The interior, designed by Kaminsky Arkitektur, is a tribute to the many expressions of the signal – color, sound, and movement. Walnut-stained doors, cork-clad walls, subtly toned textile carpets, and stainless steel kitchenettes are combined with geometric forms and vibrant accents. A flow of design where every room becomes a space for conversation, creativity, and collaboration.
A vibrant place — from morning to night
Marievik is a district in constant motion, where offices, restaurants, quay pools, culture, and services interact. Signalhuset is at the heart of this flow — close to Liljeholmen’s transport hub, the quay’s piers, and a wide range of restaurants, cafés, and activities. It’s a place that accommodates both work and relaxation.
