A new era begins here
Over the years, Urverket has been known by several names – Järnhuset, Klockhuset, Urhuset – but it is now, as Urverket, that the building takes a step into the future. In 2024, the building undergoes a comprehensive transformation with a focus on functionality, light, and sustainability. Bright and open office spaces are being created, along with an added floor and a light-filled atrium that bring space and energy to the workday.
Materials with character
Urverket will have a distinct physical identity, with carefully selected materials that highlight the building’s industrial heritage. The façades are complemented with signs in lacquered steel, entrance canopies in semi-transparent glass, and details in corten steel. Outdoor furniture and planters from Vestre, made of linseed-oil treated pine and powder-coated steel, create a robust yet warm atmosphere in the exterior spaces.

Concept: Engineering meets green urban life
Urverket’s graphic identity draws inspiration from clock faces and engineering details – a typeface with technical precision and symbols reflecting the window grids. The entrances are framed with canopies and signage that emphasize the building’s character, while the outdoor environment is softened with organic plantings, bicycle parking, and seating areas arranged in distinct zones.
Marievik – a place where city life meets the water
Urverket is located in the heart of Marievik – a district currently transforming from an industrial area into a vibrant mixed-use neighborhood. Here, along the sparkling waters of Liljeholmskajen, a place is emerging where people can work, live, and meet. The atmosphere is creative and optimistic, with a strong focus on wellbeing and community.
The streets are opening up to life and activity, the quay is being enhanced with new promenades and a floating bath, and green parks and meeting spaces are being created between the buildings. Restaurants, cafés, and shops are emerging throughout the blocks, making it never far to a lunch meeting by the water or an evening stroll along the quay.
